given to him and his
wife Frieda by 
Mabel Dodge Luhan
guarded over 
by a majestic
pine tree centuries
in the making,
once painted by
Georgia O'Keeffe,
I gave an offering 
of smoke to his
memory (Lady 
Chatterley's Lover)
on Lobo Mountain
like Jack Nicholson
and Peter Fonda
must have done
before me-
when they took 
the long drive
to pay their
respects during
the filming of
"Easyrider"
40 years ago-
when the shrine
was being built
his cremated
remains were
mixed in with
the cement-
he was 44

If I do ascend to the heights of my heroes
it will be no surprise after 30 years of zeroes
to the mythic journey no occasion for laugher
gonna get what it is that I'm after
artistic immorality documentation
don't need GPS to navigate
this great nation
use a compass and the stars
made a map on antelope skin
don't hang around in bars
life is for the living- begin
let the dead bury the dead
don't get in my face sin
split open your head and not w/ violence
it is more like a mad Professor dropping science
was never good with numbers
spent my youth Coney Island summers
whoever messes w/ me
know that I am no clown
much more like the Joker
come correct
or I will have to choke ya
yo RZA says protect ya neck
do not step to me
unless you show respect

Who becomes one with the sea

Rumi found Shams and then he

Disappeared longing and loss

And of course love guided me

To the Other who was waiting

Underneath the layers that

Were peeled away
